On October 26, the Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage, became the setting for an unforgettable celebration—our Audrey Hepburn-inspired Brunch, a fundraising event in support of United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE). The ambiance and overwhelming support from our community created a truly magical experience, helping us move mountains and fuel our mission to create a life without limits for all those we serve.

Arrival Experience

From the moment guests drove up the driveway, greeted by the Ritz’s signature cascading waterfall, they were transported to an atmosphere of elegance and warmth. Guests were welcomed with the unmistakable fragrance of the Ritz lobby, soft desert hues, and friendly doormen. The journey continued down a hallway with signs to guide guests to the ballroom, where volunteers awaited with champagne and warm smiles.

Unforgettable Moments and Immersive Experiences

Inside, harpist Steve Hill set a serene tone with live music as guests mingled, sipping champagne and exploring the thoughtfully curated silent auction items. From Tiffany blue backdrops perfect for photos to tables adorned with fine jewelry, wine, and luxurious gift baskets, each detail added to the atmosphere of sophistication. Guests were also treated to classic tunes by the soulful Keisha D, creating a sense of anticipation for what was to come.

Powerful Performances and Awards

Our brunch program began with a national UCPIE video that showcased our mission, followed by an inspiring message from our CEO, John Sprogis. He set the stage for a memorable day, leading into our first performance by Sensei Tamara’s para karate students. With synchronized movements, these students displayed confidence and skill, receiving heartfelt applause and even bringing tears to many in the audience.

Next, we honored Charlie Cooper, a Paralympic champion, with the “Life Without Limits” award. Charlie’s accomplishments and love for the community serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all of us.

The High Hopes Dance Troupe, led by Renee Griffin, was another highlight. Special recognition was given to Paul, a 51-year-old dancer who has been with the troupe since its founding 12 years ago. As Paul walked to the stage, he greeted the audience with smiles and waves, embodying the joy and pride of a true star. Their performance earned a standing ovation, leaving the audience inspired and deeply moved.
