United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire’s Team Freedom is comprised of children with special needs, and those who support them. Team Freedom’s goal is to participate in one of the biggest non-competitive cycling events in the United States, the Tour de Palm Springs. Team Freedom members walk and ride the one mile leg of the tour. The walking portion of the Tour de Palm Springs was created specifically for United Cerebral palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE). Not all children are able to ride a bike, in fact children with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy or other disability that profoundly impacts their mobility have never experience the thrill, exhilaration, and simple joy of riding a bike. For this reason UCPIE donates all proceeds of this event to go toward the purchase of an adaptive bike for qualified children. Team Freedom started in 2012 with one child, on bike, in 2016 Team Freedom consisted of over 70 team members, of those team members over 25 children rode on an adaptive bicycle. We have many more children to go, become a Team Freedom member! To find out more about how to participate in Team Freedom contact our office at 760-321-8184 ext. 105.
